Stuck

I think y'all know by now that we have a little sleeper on our hands... At the risk of this all going out the window now that I'm putting it in writing: Sydney is a great napper and a great nighttime sleeper. She takes 3 good naps in her crib each day ( about an hour and a half each). We just lay her in the crib and she chills/talks to herself for a couple of minutes and then falls asleep. No real crying to speak of when we lay her down and we usually are the ones waking her up from the nap. And our little miss sleeps from about 8:30pm til 8:00am every night (and has been for a good month or so now). She cries for maybe 5 minutes when we put her down at night. Some mornings we have to wake her up, other mornings I hear her in her crib talking to herself contently.

But Friday morning, Dan and I were awoken to shrieking coming from the nursery. I looked at the monitor and quickly realized the problem. Being the great mommy that I am, I went and grabbed the camera first and then went to help Sydney.

"HELP!!! My leg is stuck!"

"Okay, seriously mom, put down the camera and help me."

Our big girl

It's hard to believe that our little girl is already 3 months old!

No doctor's appointment this month, so you'll just have to take our word for it that she is growing like a weed. Sydney is getting longer (as evidenced by the clothes that are starting to get smaller and smaller) and is much heavier (Dan's and my arms can definitely attest to that!).

The doctor always measures her head circumference too and while I can't exactly look at her head and tell that it's any bigger, the following picture does indicate that it has grown a good bit (this was her hat from the hospital)

Another new trick this month is that we like to turn in our crib at night. Every night we put Sydney down to sleep lengthwise in the crib with her head on the pink 'sheet saver' (you'll see it in the picture) - and in the morning, it is always a guessing game as to how she will be positioned. For her 3 month birthday, we turned sideways. I guess you get a better view of the mobile from the sideways position - who knows? :)

I dressed Sydney in a little Ruffle Butt onesie for church, because as I figure it, there is a very limited timeframe during which a lady can have ruffles on her butt and it be considered acceptable. So we are going to take advantage of that time while we can:

And finally, her "official" 3 month pictures (official because of the outfit -- same one as month 1 and month 2, only the cupcake has 3 candles now... 3 months = 3 candles (I'll let you guess if that was my idea or Dan's :) )).

As you can see, Sydney is still rocking the blue eyes like mommy and the red-ish hair like some distant relative neither Dan nor I know of :)

Uncle Matt

Uncle Matt came to dinner a few nights ago, and since he is now a faithful blog follower (right, Matt?), I figured he should get a shout out. :)

Playing in the Exer-saucer

We got a hand-me-down exersaucer from a friend a little while back, and Sydney has finally gotten big enough to start playing in it. Our little lady likes to 'stand up' these days, and while it is quite impressive that her legs are able to bear her weight - it does make for some very tired arms on mommy and daddy, so this is great!

Best Friend Carolyn

My friend Susan had her sweet little girl, Carolyn, last week and we got the chance to let the girls meet today.

I think they enjoyed their playdate. I know Susan and I did :)

Carolyn (1 week - 6 lbs) and Sydney (10.5 weeks - 13 lbs)

Sleepy Baby

Sydney likes to sit in her Bumbo on the kitchen counter as we make dinner... she gets fussy if she is at 'ground level' and can't see anything, so we put her on the counter so she can see us and watch what is going on.

Apparently, we weren't very exciting to watch last night:

I'm really not sure how that can possibly be comfortable.

13 pounds?!?

We had our 2 month doctor's visit this week (somehow we managed to get a bit behind on these visits and since the little lady's vaccines need to be spaced a certain number of days apart, it seems that we will be a bit 'behind' for a little while.... oh well).

So - the important details for those of you who are keeping track :)

13 pounds (85th percentile)
23.5 inches long (76th percentile)

While the doctor's visit was a bit late, the pictures were in fact taken on Sydney's 2 month birthday. Enjoy!

Proof that the mean nurse got her hands on our sweet baby during the doctor's visit....

4th of July

Happy Fourth of July! We spent the day at Dan's parent's house - we grilled burgers and hot dogs and watched the annual neighborhood 4th of July parade.

The Parade:
as it was described to me - it starts at 11:45 and is over by 11:46 :)
MAEMAE - you should note that the entire parade can be seen behind her in the photo :)

The parade and all of the holiday festivities wore the Princess out:

9 weeks

Ok, so it might be a little bit late, but in an effort to stay current, I'm going with the 'better late than never' philosophy on this post.
